RUNNING BEATS MUSIC
Lace up your running shoes and join me for a run! If you are aiming to beat your Parkrun PB, training for a marathon or simply enjoy running, you are in the right place. I find that running with most music slows me down as my feet tend to move in time with the beat, and a lot of music is 100-130 beats per minute. The optimum running cadence for middle and long distance runners is 180 steps per minute, but music at 180 bpm is not what I would want to listen to. As a running coach and music producer I decided to put the two together and write some running training tracks that help me keep to my target cadence. We also have some speed workouts and interval sessions to really push you towards your next PB!

1. 160 steps per minute albums if you are just starting out or are having an easy day
2. 170 steps per minute albums for the steady runner trying to improve their cadence.
3. 180 steps per minute albums. The target for middle and long distance runners.
4. 190 steps per minute albums. For speed work or those with a shorter stride.
5. Pyramid intervals - a tough speed session at 190 BPM
6. Killer intervals - Start with the 2 minute recovery album and every few weeks reduce your recovery to 1 min, 30 secs
7. 5K challenge 20 mins to smash your 5K PB
